My Achievements for Muslim Ummah Surpass My Predecessors' Records — Governor Adeleke
Governor Ademola Adeleke addresses the Osun State Muslim Community, citing the near-completion of the long-absent Hajj camp, a Government House mosque under construction, the newly constituted Hajj Welfare Board, and Osun's landmark status as the first South West state to formalise Islamic marriage certificates as proof his record for the ummah surpasses 12 years of APC rule.
The Osun State Muslim Community hosted Governor Ademola Adeleke on Saturday, with the governor telling the Muslim Ummah that his record of achievements for the Islamic sector surpasses that of all his predecessors.
"I am happy to report that my administration is almost completing the Hajj camp to remove the shame on the ummah. For 12 years before my assumption of office, Osun had no Hajj camp — the only state in the South West without one. They were in office and they did not deem it fit to build the camp for intending pilgrims," the governor stated.
"They claimed to be real muslims, yet they did not think of a mosque at the Government House. My administration is building one. For their years in office, they refused to constitute the Hajj Welfare Board. My administration has not only set up the board but we ensure multiple benefits for muslims on pilgrimage."
The governor also highlighted that Osun recently became the first state in the South West to formalise the issuance of Islamic marriage certificates, and directed that the process be domiciled with the Muslim Community as the umbrella body for muslims in the state.
"You all know my principal officers and many members of my cabinet are muslims. I ensure muslims get their fair share in almost all areas. I listed all the above to show what I did that they refused to do when they were in office. You can judge who is a true believer from the work of our hands," the governor submitted.
The governor's Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Alhaji Muniru Raji, corroborated the governor, declaring that "they were in office and neglected the ummah. We thank Governor Adeleke for implementing several policies and projects to meet the needs and aspirations of muslims in Osun State. We know he will do more when he is re-elected on August 15th."
The chairman of the Osun State Muslim Community, Alhaji Mustapha Olawuyi, thanked the governor for his deliveries and presented further requests, urging him to continue his fair-mindedness to all faiths.
