I Fulfilled My Promises on University of Ilesa — Gov Adeleke Commissions Landmark Projects
Governor Ademola Adeleke commissions six landmark projects at the University of Ilesa — including a remodelled Faculty of Law Annex, Faculty of Public Health building, reconstructed internal roads, new hostel buildings and Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences — declaring he has fulfilled his electoral promise of actualising UNILESA, which now has 12 faculties, 110 academic programmes and over 15,000 students.
Governor Ademola Adeleke today commissioned six different projects at the University of Ilesa (UNILESA), declaring that he has fulfilled his electoral promises on the actualisation of the University.
"To our royal fathers and the entire Ijesa sons and daughters, I have fulfilled my pledge to make this university a reality. From audio pronouncement by the previous administration, our government enacted a state law establishing the university, providing a framework for its governance. We secured accreditation of several courses and appointed world-class administrators," the governor stated.
The governor enumerated his administration's welfare interventions at UNILESA: converting all temporary and contract staff of the defunct College of Education to permanent and pensionable staff; paying all outstanding allowances; approving and implementing new university salary structures including arrears; implementing regular promotions with financial backing; and ensuring payment of the half salaries owed to workers.
"Despite the financial challenges of the last two years, we are also upgrading the physical infrastructure within the university. Today's gathering is a manifestation of our commitment to upgrade this university in terms of its internal facilities and academic infrastructure," the governor told a cheering crowd.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Olufemi Ashaolu expressed gratitude to the governor, noting that "in just three years, UNILESA has grown from a vision to a thriving academic community of 12 Faculties, one College of Health Sciences, 110 Academic Programmes, and over 15,000 students. This would not have been possible without your visionary leadership, consistent funding, and personal commitment to make UNILESA a centre of excellence."
The projects commissioned include the remodelled Faculty of Law Annex Building, the remodelled Faculty of Public Health Building, a reconstructed internal road network, new hostel buildings, a female medical hostel, and the Faculty of Basic Clinical Sciences.
