2026 Campaigns: Governor Adeleke Unveils Rural Infrastructure Agenda, Receives Hundreds of APC Defectors
Governor Ademola Adeleke addresses traditional rulers in Ayedire and Olaoluwa LGAs, unveiling a rural infrastructure agenda under his five-point consolidation plan and receiving hundreds of APC defectors — including former APC Vice Chairman Hon. Dauda Lawal and ex-House of Assembly member Hon. Amos Akindiya — who cited the governor's visible development record as their reason for switching.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has unveiled a series of plans and programmes for the development of Osun rural areas under his five-point agenda, addressing traditional rulers at Ikire-Ile and Ile-Ogbo in Ayedire and Olaoluwa Local Governments.
"I assure you, our royal fathers, I will continue to upgrade your roads. I have started by flagging off the Telemu-Ilemowu-Ogbagba Road. All other internal roads are slated under our enlarged rural agenda. You have seen our work at Iwo and other areas. We will do more for our people once we are re-elected," the governor assured.
At the campaign engagements, Governor Adeleke received hundreds of defectors from the APC into the Accord, led by Hon. Dauda Lawal (Ọmọ Ẹkùn), former APC Vice Chairman in Olaoluwa LGA, and Hon. Amos Akindiya, former Member of the Osun State House of Assembly.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Dauda Lawal said the governor's commitment to fulfilling his promises and improving welfare made it impossible for them to remain in the APC. He noted that those owed half salaries during the previous APC administration are now being paid by the Adeleke administration — including the APC governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, whom he said is also a beneficiary of the ongoing half salary payments.
The Akire of Ikire-Ile, HRM Oba Alhaji Azeez Olatunbosun, speaking on behalf of Olaoluwa traditional rulers, and the Olu of Ile-Ogbo, HRM Oba Abeeb Adetoyese Agbaje, speaking for Ayedire traditional rulers, both commended the governor for his service over the last four years, offered prayers, and pledged support for his re-election.
