Move Akilapa to State CID, Not Anti-Cultism Unit Under Eluku — TICC
The Imole Campaign Council condemns fresh attacks on Accord members at Okini and demands that arrested APC thug Akilapa be transferred to the State CID, warning that allowing anti-cultism chief Eluku to handle politically motivated attacks amounts to shielding the suspects.
The Imole Campaign Council has condemned the attacks on members of Accord at Okinin, warning that the Akilapa who was arrested for leading the attack should be sent to the State CID and not the anti-cultism unit.
The Council called the attention of the Inspector General of Police to the fresh attack on Accord members at Okini, commending the police for arresting the notorious APC thug Akilapa, but raising serious concerns about the handling of the matter.
"The attacks at Okini, Esa Oke, Ilobu and other areas are not related to cultism. They are political attacks staged by Asiri Eniba and his gangs with the active connivance of Eluku. Why is the same Eluku being allowed to handle cases of gun attacks for which he is accused of aiding and abetting?" the Council queried.
"Why is the attack on Okini being treated as a cult clash when the attackers came in AMBO branded vehicles and the lead thug was Akilapa, a well known APC thug? How will you now arrest Akilapa and then hand him over to Eluku? This is indirectly shielding the suspect."
The Council also raised alarm over unconfirmed reports that Saheed Eninafe was arrested on the night of the killing of Ezekiel and handed over to Eluku, only for his whereabouts to become untraceable by morning.
TICC demanded that Akilapa be moved to the State CID for thorough investigation and insisted that Eluku should no longer handle cases of political attacks, citing several petitions and accusations of partisanship and collusion with Asiri Eniba and his gang.
