Take Firm Action Against Those Buying PVCs in Osun — TICC Tells INEC, Security Agencies
The Imole Campaign Council raises alarm over a rampant scheme by certain elements to purchase or extract sensitive data from voters' PVCs ahead of the August 15 governorship poll, calling on INEC and security agencies to identify and prosecute those behind what it describes as a calculated attempt to disenfranchise voters.
The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has raised the alarm over reports of certain elements approaching voters in Osun State to either obtain sensitive data on their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) or purchase the cards outright, as the August 15 governorship poll approaches.
The Council described the scheme as becoming rampant, exploiting the ignorance and economic situation of innocent voters to gain undue access to their PVCs, and stated that credible intelligence indicates it is part of a calculated attempt to disenfranchise voters and adversely alter the outcome of the forthcoming governorship poll.
TICC emphasised that possession of a PVC other than the one bearing one's name is unlawful under Section 121 of the Electoral Act, 2026, making it criminal to lure voters into surrendering sensitive card data in exchange for fictitious empowerment or outright purchase.
The Council called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately activate measures to identify those behind the scheme and initiate legal actions and any other necessary steps to guarantee the integrity of the forthcoming election, while equally calling on security agencies to go after the criminal syndicates trading PVCs in the open.
TICC appealed to the general public — especially voters — to resist monetary inducement to release their PVCs or disclose sensitive information to anyone. "PVC is the power they hold to make leadership choices and they must not surrender that power for pittance, which will in turn force on them leadership that will worsen their situations," the Council warned.
"Governor Ademola Adeleke has demonstrated that government can actually work for the people and Osun people must therefore resist the urge to sell their PVCs so as to be able to cast their vote for the continuation of good governance," the Council stated.
